Everyday essentials with Nick Curwood

Meet the newest addition to our design team, Nick Curwood. He joins as a design manager and brings a range of work experience with him. From being a furniture maker to a CAD designer for a washroom company, he has a varied skillset and a great eye for design. We love when our team grows as it provides the perfect opportunity to sit down and get to know what makes these people who they are.

Instead of just asking design based questions we thought that we could change our angle. This time we are wanting to know what five everyday items Nick can’t live without. See his answers below:

How did you get into design?

 

I started out making furniture in a cabinet maker’s—using machinery to make up drawers, carcasses, veneering, and edging all by hand.

I then learnt how to use CAD software and got a job for a Washrooms company drafting up vanity units, lockers, benches, cubicles, and bespoke joinery projects.

That takes me to where I am today! It’s great to be able to use skills I’ve picked up from other industry sectors but in a completely different application and I’m enjoying it thoroughly!

What are five essential everyday items you can’t live without?

 

1) Tropical Sun Hot Pepper Sauce

 

I put this on everything! It brings out the flavour of what you’re eating every time!

 

2) Vinyl records

 

I love to spend a day sifting through my collection and playing some dusty old tunes.

 

3) Tottenham Hotspur football club.

 

The football team I have supported since I was 8 years old! 

 

4) My barber.

 

Can’t cut corners with a bad barber! No pun intended.

 

5) My Bible

 

Last but not least. I always try to start the day in God’s word, it keeps me grounded and strengthened to handle whatever the day might throw my way!
